hypervising

When ‘supervising’ doesn’t sound important enough, say you are hypervising. One former supervisor for Halliburton describes her duties there as ‘Managing and hypervising oil field checkup.’ It seems so much more dynamic. And the possible manic implications of hyper are kept under control by the wise scrutiny of vising.

In information technology, a hypervisor is another name for a Virtual Machine Monitor, a piece of software that creates and runs ‘virtual’ computers inside your computer. It’s not clear whether human beings claiming that they are hypervising are thus trying to say that their inferiors are just mathematical constructs, or perhaps that we all really are living in the MATRIX. Whoah.

Anyway, once hypervising becomes a boringly common boast, there is still room for it to be extended upwards to ‘ultravising’. It isn’t clear whether there is an alternative in the opposite direction, ‘subvising’, but it could prove very useful. Subvising would mean what you do when you are supposed to be keeping an eye on something but can’t really be bothered.
