“So, once again. What’s the plan?” I ask once we reach the front door of her sorority house. Music is playing inside, and there’s a line of cars parked around the street.

“We just wing it.” He shrugs, opening the door as if he owns the place without giving me a chance to plan any further.

“Yo, soccer god in the hoou-see!” Liam howls as he crosses the entryway.

Jesus Christ. Why?

Scanning the house, I meet Ashley’s gaze. She smiles excitedly, and I walk toward her with Liam close behind. She leans casually on the kitchen table, and as always, her clothing leaves nothing to the imagination—short skirt and a low cut tank top, showcasing her tits.

“Ashley.” My smile doesn’t reach my eyes, but she wouldn’t know the difference. I never cared to let her get to know me. Just a screw, that’s what she was.

“Cole!” Ashley whines, hugging me tightly to her. She pulls back enough to snake her arms around my neck. “Kiss me.” The tone of her demand is not lost on me.

“No.”

Her facade fades, and her icy eyes stare at me, waiting, daring me not to follow her order.

How did I get to this point? Sure, I wasn’t expecting anything else, but what can I do? My dad always told us, “You always have a choice.” I’m sure he meant saying no to drugs or something where there was an option because right now, I don’t see one.

I lean down, and my stomach turns. I’ve kissed Ashley many times before, but now? It’s a punch in the gut. Her lips are ready for mine. Her eyes close as mine stay wide open, and my lips touch hers. The taste of her cheap vanilla lip gloss suffocates me, and I’m thankful for it. It distracts me from her eager lips, so I focus on the sticky feeling instead of the way she continues to take and take.

“Alright, you two. Leave the passion behind closed doors!” Liam interrupts, and I pull back from her.

“Terra, meet Cole.” Ashley turns to face her friend, leaving her hand on my chest. With her other hand, she wipes her lips as she backs her body to my front. Playing my part, I grin and place my hand on Ashley’s shoulder. Terra seems like a nice girl. Real blonde hair, not bottled like Ashley’s, and it barely touches her shoulders. Her eyes are kind, but hey, if there’s something the diner we visited earlier reminded me of was not to be so quick to judge a book by its cover.

Liam shows up with four cups, two on each palm of his hand. “Ya’ll ready to party?” he asks and holds out the cups from his left hand. They both smile and grab a cup.

Has this girl never watched Dateline? Forensic Files? Or have they never heard to not drink out of a cup they didn’t watch being poured?

“Bottoms up!” Liam shouts and raises his cup to the air before bringing it to his mouth, chugging down every drop.
