"You could call the police and report the break-in."

"I don't have any evidence. As far as I know he used a key that Laura gave him before she knew any better. All I can do is tell Mrs. Gavin that Echols is the only thing standing between Laura and a sober life." She looked at Dale and touched her hair. "I missed you."

Dale laughed. "You're sweet. I missed you, too. I found out some stuff on my own." She explained what she had learned of Echols' career in law enforcement and its undignified end. "Someone Laura used to party with said there was a rumor of a second sex tape. Echols was trying to find it and, not long afterward, Laura ended up in rehab."

"You think the second tape is what made her get clean?"

Dale shrugged. "It could be. I, uh... I didn't watch it. But I found a few reviews of it online."

"People review porn?" Dale nodded. Ari wrinkled her nose. "How would you even do that? Porn is subjective. What works for me won't necessarily work for you."

"Oh, I don't know about that. I've seen some of your girlfriends."

Ari laughed. "So what did you find while scouring the internet for porn? God, it must have taken you all night to even find a website."

"Ha," Dale said. "Anyway, the first sex tape was pretty damn raunchy, apparently. Group sex, no holds barred. If that didn't make her want to get sober, I'm terrified to think of what the second one might have had."

Ari thought about the idea of Echols taking Laura's virginity. "Maybe it's not what was on the tape, but who."

"Whom."

"Really?"

Dale shrugged. "I don't know. I'm going to take you home so you can take one of those decadent showers you like. Do you need a massage?"

Ari shook her head. "I spent enough time as a wolf that my little switches back and forth didn't really affect me. I may change my tune in the morning, but I think the shower will be enough. Thanks, though. I'm going to type up some surveillance for Katherine Gavin, too. I think I need to drop in on her with my report so I can tell her about Echols face-to-face."

"I think that's a good idea. Tomorrow?"

"Yeah. Tonight is for pampering and relaxing."

Dale nodded. "I could drop you off and then go get you something to eat. People food."

"Laura actually fed me mostly people food. It was great." Her stomach twisted and growled at the subject. "Actually, if you want to pick up some chicken, that would really hit the spot."

Dale grinned. "Done. Bucket?"

"Sure."

She parked in front of Ari's building. "I'll be back in about an hour with some food. I have some other errands to run, so take your time in the tub." Dale opened the glove compartment and handed Ari her wallet and keys.

Ari took them and squeezed Dale's hand. "Thanks, Dale."

She got out of the car and went upstairs. She passed one of her neighbors on the stairs, and the man smiled and nodded to her.
