Later, during her own rest period, Sereth found it difficult to sleep in her posh chambers. Repeatedly she tossed and turned in the dark room from the vivid pictures of Fennius Taylor snaking through her dreams. Had these two hapless girls really been in Captain Taylor’s presence so recently? The idea of slumber at this point seemed unbearable as visions of the blonde haired human tormented her subconscious and made her tail lash about. It had been years since she’d been held in his warm embrace and yearned for it now more than ever. Though the two had only known each other for a short time, their professed love was undeniable. The fight between Taylor and her father was devastating. After Fennius struck her father across the muzzle with his own blaster and escaped their lair, her father vowed to kill him on sight if ever their paths crossed again. She once read how long ago in human history there was a gifted playwright that wrote a story about a pair of star-crossed lovers and couldn’t help herself by feeling the same way about Fennius that the lovers felt for one another. The characters and themes were so heartfelt and breathtaking that the story was still taught in Felian society and education hubs as an example of exemplary writing.

After only an evening with Taylor aboard her father’s base, she knew Fennius Taylor from Earth was the only one she would ever give her heart to.

“I must be mad.” Before Sereth knew it, she was sweating and far too bothered to get any more rest. The cold water from the sleek metal faucet on the wall of her dorm dissipated the bothersome traces of the dreams as she made up her mind to find out once and for all whether the man of her dreams was worth waiting for. She returned to the barred door of the girl’s cell with a covered plate and eating utensils from the dining hall. As she grew closer the sentry stood rigid and faced her.

“These prisoners have already been given their rations for this cycle.” The robot replied.

“Cicero wants them to be treated with extra care to ensure there will be no complaining from the person paying the ransom to have them returned.”

“I wasn’t informed of this and it will be annotated in my reports.”

“Fine, just go away.” Not wanting the jailer standing over her as she spoke to the prisoners, Sereth sent it to other end of the corridor to power down. Removing the top of the plate revealed an exquisitely prepared earthling chocolate cake made by her personal chef. “I know the rest of the food they give you isn’t the best, maybe this will help make up for it.” The girls said nothing and barely made eye contact. “Well if you change your mind, here it is.” She put the top back on and slid it and the utensils through the rectangular hole that was cut a few inches above the bottom of the door.
