“I don’t need to see or smell any more of this,” said the zookeeper, holding her nose and removing her glasses.

“I’m waiting for my money,” Barnabas Brambles barked from the top of the Arch.

“Aren’t you listening?” cried the zookeeper. “I don’t want this cat! He’s not well. He’ll make my other animals sick.”

“Oh, Leo’s not contagious,” Barnabas Brambles said casually. “He just ate a little moldy mushroom pizza.”

“Moldy mushroom pizza?” cried the zookeeper. “That can cause witzelsucht!”

Witzelsucht is the excessive and inappropriate use of silly or pointless humor. The word comes from the German words witzeln, meaning “to joke,” and sucht, meaning “habit.”
