“Sure. Um… thanks …” Eli paused, working again to try to remember the girl’s name.

“Meg.” she supplied.

“Thanks Meg. I’ll make sure I get some sleep.” Eli said, then when Meg didn’t move or say anything further, he nodded awkwardly at her and left the lab.

At the door Eli instinctively turned to follow the path out of the base towards his home, but stopped himself. It wasn’t really his home anymore; he’d spent enough time there after his children’s death that he’d figured that out. All that waited for him there were painful memories, empty rooms and a half drunk bottle of Brandy. No, his home was the place where his husband and children lived… So he didn’t have a home anymore. Even his family home would be gone, Eli realised, having been located in London. It would have been annihilated in the nuclear fire along with everything else. It was time to find this shoebox they’d set up for him weeks ago in the underground apartment complex.
