Chapter 10

Alex

I can tell that Bridgette is a little uncomfortable here, and while I hate that for her, I feel right at home. We’re alone right now, but I have hired a chef to come later and there’s staff coming to make sure that the cabin is clean and comfortable.

Now, though, she’s simply turning in a circle in the middle of the foyer.

“Did you say that this place has wings?”

“Yeah, but one of them needs to undergo renovation, so I don’t think that we can sleep there tonight. But on the other side of the house is a wing with the master bedroom, and we’ll be comfortable there. Want to go find it?”

She turns and bites her lip. I can tell that she’s considering my offer and vacillating on what she should do. “Should we carry our bags up?” She asks, turning around and looking for her things.

They’re not in the foyer because my butler, Timothy, is very good at his job. He’s also very quiet. Unless you know that he’s around, he’s easy to miss. He’s already taken all of our things up.

“They’re in the bedroom. Let’s go look.”

She rests one hand lightly on the banister and starts walking up the stairs. It’s all I can to do keep from reaching out and grabbing her ass. She’s practically waving it in my face with every step.

“Right or left?”

We pause at the top of the stairs and I pull out my phone to look at the listing. She peeks at it over my shoulder and easily sees the price before I can pull the phone back.

I ignore the fact that seeing it makes her go pale.

“Right. And it looks like we’ll have an amazing view of the ocean, so we never even need to leave the bedroom if we don’t want to.”

Bridgette ignores me and starts walking down the hall. “What will you do with this place when you’re not staying here? Doesn’t make much sense to me to have this great house and leave it empty half the time.”

That’s exactly what I was going to do with it. In fact, that’s what I do with all my houses when I’m not in them. I hire someone to live there and take care of it and then they take care of me when I fly in and need a place to stay. It’s always worked out well for me, but when Bridgette mentions it, it does seem a little decadent.

“What would you recommend?”

She turns to me and thinks. “Maybe opening a bed and breakfast? I’ve always wanted to run one of those. The bakery is the closest that I’ve ever come, though.”

“You know, we have those in Europe, too,” I tell her, walking next to her as we head down the hall. “You could run your B&B and I could manage my company. We’d be quite a pair.”

She laughs and doesn’t answer. Instead, she turns into the master bedroom and gasps.

“Look at this place, Alex,” she breathes.

It is stunning. The
