We woke up late the next morning, had a quick breakfast, and then I rushed us out the door before I was tempted to carry her back to bed and keep her there until I had to leave on Sunday. She had work, though, and I couldn’t keep her from that.
I drove her home and went upstairs with her so she could grab her gear and a few clothes. She was staying with me until I went on tour, and during that time, I was going to try to convince her to either stay at my apartment while I was gone or with Jenna. Hell, even Angie and Kin were okay with me as long as Santana wasn’t under the same roof with a man who I didn’t trust.
She unlocked her door and stepped in without hesitation. Apparently, Wade was gone. She must have not seen his car in the parking lot, so he was probably at work today. Good. That would give me and Gray time to go over to The Way and have a little chat with that fucker before she finished work today.
Tossing her heels aside as she led me into the apartment, she stepped up on her tiptoes to kiss my cheek. “Make yourself comfortable. Sage doesn’t get out of bed before noon most days. I just have to change and grab my stuff, and then we can go.”
I pulled her in close before she could step back. Giving her a real kiss, I waited until she melted against me before lifting my head.
“Take your time, doll.”
With a little sigh that had me thinking about taking her back to my place and locking the doors after all, she hurried toward her room.
“Be right back.”
While she was busy, I made her some coffee in the kitchen. After finding a travel mug, I fixed her a cup the way I had seen her make it at my place. After raiding her pantry, I found a few granola bars. My girl needed to keep up her energy if we were going to have another night like we had the night before. Neither of us had gotten much sleep, and if I had anything to say about it, we wouldn’t be getting much that night or any night from then to Sunday.
By the time Santana came out with her camera gear slung over one arm and an overnight bag in her hands, I had her a small lunch packed to go with the coffee and granola.
I took the camera case from her, along with the bag.
“What’s this?” She lifted a brow when I offered her the coffee and the small bagged lunch. Taking a sip, she groaned when she tasted the coffee, her eyes growing huge. “This is perfect,” she said with a sigh. Stepping up on her tiptoes again, she gave me a soft, quick kiss. “Thanks, babe. You’re the best.”
I dropped her off at her studio with the promise of picking her up later. She didn’t ask what my plans were, and I was glad, because I hadn’t wanted to lie to her.
