Forest Rhino is enraged!

The monster bounded forward, heedless of the trap, straight for Bran.

With the vine spell trapping his legs, Bran wasn’t able to move his feet at all. His sword drawn, he stared at the monster, wishing he could switch into another of his configurations or summon one of his monsters.

This would definitely be a good lesson in patience.

The Forest Rhino ran straight into the Steel Slash spell. Razor sharp blades sprang from the ground, cutting every inch of the monster, weakening it so much it lost its footing and tumbled straight into Bran.

Bran, unable to jump out of the way, moved faster than he had any right to. He bent down and infused another trap into the ground, hoping he would be able to set it in time. Hoping the fifteen seconds had passed.

A dark sheen of light spread over the dirt as the monster was an inch from crashing into Bran.

The Forest Rhino touched the trap. It activated. A shadow shot up from the ground, engulfing the massive monster completely.

Bran grinned. The Shadow Step trap had worked, and he knew exactly where the monster was about to appear—directly to his left.

Brandishing his sword, Bran thrust to his left just as the monster appeared. His blade sunk into its spine.

Mastery flooded into Bran. He sighed in relief, breathing heavily.

Though he had only been hit once, that fight had been much harder than he had expected it to be, all because he had stepped on that damned branch.

Text began to flash across his vision.
