Chapter Nine
A carnal sound escaped him.
Jack told her, âDarlinâ, for all my suggestive comments, I came here neither prepared nor presumptuous. Granted, I was lookinâ forward to foolinâ around. But I had no intention of guidinâ you down a path you might not want toââ
âI know you werenât being presumptuous, Jack. And you know I canât be swayed against my will.â
âNo denyinâ that.â
She was silent, contemplative. Because this was tricky territory for them both.
She asked, âHow long has it been for you, Jack?â
âA while,â he confessed with a grim look that implied a drawn-out looong in between those two words.
She didnât have to mention her six years. Theyâd covered that, obviously.
She said, âI take the pill to normalize my periods.â It was a bit more complex than that, but Jillian knew she couldnât get pregnant, so she added, âI think weâre safe.â
His thumb swept along her temple. âYou sure about this?â
âIâm sure about you.â
One corner of Jackâs mouth lifted in a bad-boy grin. âHasnât this just been my lucky month?â
âIf you like roller coasters with corkscrews in them.â She held his hand against her cheek for a moment.
âMaybe I do. Or maybe,â he said as he reached for the button on his jeans, âI know which rides are worth takinâ.â
âOh, with the charm . . .â She sighed.
âYouâre my undoinâ, darlinâ.â He slid the zipper down its track.
Excitement rippled through Jillian, along with a renewed sense of urgency to have Jack inside her, filling her.
He stripped down, and she admired the view.
Her breath caught in her throat, and her nipples tightened further.
His powerful legs were the perfect complement to all his sculpted hotness. Even the manâs feet were sexy.
But, of course, her gaze had to drift upward to his thick cock, throbbing and tempting.
Jillian hadnât exactly been driven by her libido, ever. That changed instantly.
âJesus, Jack,â she murmured. She couldnât even think of a joke to save her from salivating. She just . . . stared.
Jack peered down at her with a dubious look on his face.
âNo lie,â she said. âIâm impressed.â
âGood to know, darlinâ. Good to know.â
She whispered, âAll that and a bag of chips?â
He chuckled again. âIf thatâs all youâve got, Iâll take it.â
âI might be having a brain aneurysm.â At the very least, she was suffering the wildest eruptions of those damned flame emojiâwithin her.
Jack moved in close, settling on the sofa in a manner that allowed him to prop himself up on the pillows she laid back against so that he wasnât crushing her.
Naturally, heâd think of that. He thought of everything.
Downside was . . . he was correct in her need to not feel anyone bearing down on her. Yet she wanted his weight on her. She wanted to feel every inch of him, from head to toe.
But she was smart enough to recognize that could incite a triggering moment, and Jillian was doing her absolute best to ensure that didnât happen. Jack was too.
Though he was also doing his best to be certain that other things happened.
