CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

SEBASTIAN

“Sydney, I need to speak to Hunter.”

“One sec.”

My thoughts ran deep. Would she hurt my son? Would she kill me then disappear with my son?

“Caden, what do you need?” Hunter asked.

“I need a concealable weapon I can sneak past security, a small camera, and a tracking device.”

“Follow me.”

“Ok, one sec.”

“Mom, why did you come back inside? I need you out of the house.”

“One minute Caden. We have to finish planting explosives.”

Three of Dominic’s men walked past Hunter and me carrying the three men in oversized black duffle bags. My mother and my uncle followed, stepping out of the house in front of me and Hunter.

I looked around for Sydney. “Hunter where is Sydney?”

“Don’t worry. I sent Sydney and Skyler back to my house. They are safe.”

I slapped his shoulder. “Thanks man.”

“Alright, let me get you out of here.” He dug into his bag.

“First I have poison in this slender silver packet. You will need to place it on her neck or back. Once it touches the skin, the packet dissolves and the poison seeps into the skin killing her in one minute. You will need to keep your gloves on at all times and conceal the packet in your lower inner pocket. It will be undectable.

You can wear my glasses. They serve multiple purposes. We all use them on our missions. Tap once on the left, the camera will turn on. Tap twice, it will turn off. Tap the right side, you will be able to see if someone is carrying a weapon. In the stem of the glasses, that rest behind your ear, is a tracking device. I’ve already turned it on. Since these are my glasses I am able to turn the listening device off and on. Once you reach your destination, I will turn it on.”

My eyes widened. “Don’t worry, these are just the basics. We will get you into training soon and you’ll get a chance to handle some pretty sophisticated gadgets. Now don’t worry about a thing. Tony and I will keep our distance. We’ll be in the air in a helicopter. Keep a level head and tell her absolutley anything you have to, so you can get your son back.”

“Thanks Hunter.”

Dominic approached me. “Your mother brought me up to speed. We will take care of everything here. Go get your boy.”

I pulled Dominic into a hug. “Thanks cousin.”

“Anytime and I do mean anytime.”

I smiled then hurried down the alley back to my truck. Once I climbed behind the wheel of the truck it pushed, forward a bit from the powerful explosion. I glanced over my shoulder at the smoke rising from the house I just left.

My cell buzzed.

I answered.

“Sebastian, meet me at the Ritz Carlton in L.A. Remember no tails. I will know if you’re being followed.”

“I understand Stephanie.”

I quickly called my wife.

“Sydney, I wanted to hear your voice just in case I don’t make it back.”

“Sebastian, don’t talk like that. You have to make it back to me. You promised.”

All I’ve done is break Sydney’s heart.
