Chapter 20

I wake up and Nick is still asleep. I slip out of his arms and he stirred a bit. I paused to watch him as he rolls over and goes back to sleep. I grab his tee shirt and slip it on and then wander out into the kitchen and rummage around looking for things. I start a pot of coffee and then start making scrambled eggs and toast. Nick comes in and sits at the counter “What are you doing?” He asks sleepily. “I woke up and you weren’t there.”

“Uhh, I thought I would make you breakfast.” I said as I poured the eggs from the bowl to the pan.

“You don’t have to do that.” he says as he walks over behind me.

“Why? You cook for me all the time?” I say.

“I like to take care of you.” He says as he bends down to nuzzle my neck, arms still around me. “People wait on me all the time. It’s nice to do it for someone else.” he continues as he takes the spatula from me and shifts the cooking eggs around in the pan.

“How did you sleep?” I ask.

“Wonderful, I love sleeping with you next to me. Waking up next to you in the morning.” He says. “How about you? Are you sore at all?” He sounds concerned.

“Not really, a bit maybe.” I say, shifting out of his arms. “Don’t you have a meeting today?” I remember.

“Yeah, it’s about 40 minutes from here, at one o’clock.” He says as he starts plating the eggs. He puts the toast on the plates and puts them on the counter. “Have a seat, coffee?” he lifts up the pot.

“I wanted to do this for you.” I pout. “Yes, coffee would be nice.”

“Well, now I’m doing it for you, here.” he hands me a cup of coffee.

“Thanks” I reply and eat my breakfast in silence.

“What would you like to do today?” He asks.

“Actually, I need to get on my laptop and check on some things, please tell me you have a wireless router here?” I ask, realizing I’m screwed if he doesn’t.

“Yeah, I’ll give you the password when you need it, how long do you need?” He begins to clear the dishes.

“A couple of hours? Is that too long?” I watch his face to see if this is going to disappoint him.

“That might be perfect. I need to spend a little time going over some papers before this meeting.” He says. “You want me to make some room in my office for you?”

“Uhh, it doesn’t matter.” I don’t know if I can get anything done with him that close to me. After last night part of me wants to do it all over again and part of me wants to get him to stop being so clingy.

“OK, we’ll see. Do you have a time you need to work?”

“Nope, what time I do it is irrelevant.” I say as I get up and go into the bedroom to get out my laptop. He follows me in there and walks up behind me and pulled me close.
