Chapter Three
Something about the Dom whoâd beaten the shit out of him made Larry want to see him again. Dom Bo. Bo. What the fuck kind of Dom name is that? Larry knew he was asking himself stupid questions, but as he squirmed and stood throughout the meeting for the soup kitchen volunteers, he was exceedingly aware of his marks.
Bo hadnât gone easy on him, and for whatever reason, Larry had been able to let go like never before. Heâd done some non-con BDSM scenes where he yelled no while getting lashed, but this had been different. Bo had asked for his soft and hard limits, and somehow, without planning a sceneâat least not that Larry knew ofâBo had given Larry everything heâd needed.
And Bo hadnât even tried to hit him up for sex afterward, either. Some Doms did, no matter what Larry told them up front.
Not Bo. Heâd just beaten Larryâs ass, left stripes all over it and even below it, then once heâd had Larry sobbing, floating in that blissful perfection Larry had sought, Bo had begun to comfort him and clean Larry up.
Aftercareâanother bane of Larryâs existence. Heâd always taken his beatings and shooed away the Doms. I didnât do that to Bo.
Perhaps heâd just not been in the shape to do so with Bo. Bo had worked him over pretty good.
Excellently, really. It was three days later, and Larry still didnât want to sit down.
âEarth to Larry, hell-ooooo!â
Larry blinked and realized the meeting was over and people were filing past him, out the door.
Except for Bee, who had spoken and, possibly, snapped their fingers in front of Larryâs face.
âSorry.â Larry had that word down pat.
Bee pushed their glasses up their pointed nose and sniffed. âDid you hear anything the director said?â
Larry nodded. âYes. Funding is in trouble. Jenâs needs more donations and volunteers. The situation is dire, and there will be some fundraisers coming up, but no one has decided on just what to do yet.â And Larry really needed to go talk to Jen, the director of the soup kitchen.
âYouâre an odd duck,â Bee said, smiling at him. âWe could be friends if either of us had time for that shit.â
âMaybe we should make time,â Larry replied. âMaybe friends are necessary, and weâve fooled ourselves into thinking otherwise.â
Beeâs eyes rounded. âWhoa. I donât do deep thinking.â Then they turned and hustled off.
Larry thought of Hank, and his new husband, Thomas. It was possible that Hank could be a closer friend. Or that Larry could be a better friend. At the very least, Larry should get to know Thomas better. After all, Larry had pushed Hank into making a move on Thomas.
The last tie to his past was gone now. Larry still couldnât believe it, still felt as if the burden was being lifted anew half the time he thought about it.
He could move on with his life now. There was no reason for him to keep people at a distance.
Maybe there never was. Maybe itâs all in my head, and always was.
