Chapter Five

Dylan

How the fuck did I let Dan talk me into sleeping alone tonight? I pace the floor and look at my watch for the five-thousandth time in the last fucking hour. Time is moving so slow. At a little after midnight, there’s a knock on the door, and I throw it open thinking my Boss Girl snuck away. But, to my utter disappointment, Dan is standing there holding a bottle of Jack and two glasses.

“I figured you’d need a little help sleeping.” He pushes past me with the alcohol and glasses and walks into my suite.

When I follow him into the living room, he’s already pouring a healthy amount of Jack into each glass. “Bet you thought it was Chloe at the door.” He laughs, and I seriously want to do harm to my soon-to-be father-in-law, but I accept the glass and take a drink instead.

“You’re really trying your luck,” I grumble as I drink.

Dan laughs and continues drinking, then explains, “My father-in-law did the same to me. I’ve always dreamed of the day Chloe would find the right man. I knew you were the right guy when you agreed to the separation tonight just to make me happy.”

I shake my head at his convoluted reasoning, but I’m happy I managed to gain his approval. After we finish our drinks, he leaves. The alcohol has relaxed me enough that I attempt to fall asleep. Somehow, I manage to get a few hours of sleep before the shrill alarm jerks me awake.

I demanded that we have an early afternoon ceremony so I wouldn’t have to wait all day to make Chloe mine. The morning passes as slowly as the night did, though, and I’m ready to explode by the time two o’clock rolls around.

As I’m standing at the front of the small chapel with the minister, sweat rolls down my back while I wait for Chloe to appear. This has been the longest twenty-four hours of my life, and I will never allow us to be apart like this again. Finally, she appears at the back of the room with Dan, and my heart stops in my chest. Her gorgeous red hair is pinned up in some fancy style with little white flowers draped through it, and her heart-shaped face is glowing. She’s wearing a figure-hugging, floor length, white gown that has my dick growing hard in my tuxedo pants. When she takes her first step toward me, her leg peeks out of the slit up the side of the dress that runs all the way to the top of her thigh. My eyes almost cross, and it takes all of my willpower not to groan out loud.

Dan hands her over to me, and we barely make it through the wedding without me throwing her over my shoulder after I get a peek of her gorgeous nipples poking through the front of the dress. I don’t remember a word of the ceremony. When I’m finally allowed to kiss my bride,
