Dear Aunt Millie:

My husband and I recently took early retirement and moved to a beautiful town house in Arizona. Our development has a private pool for residents’ use, which my husband and I frequently enjoy. Yesterday, one of our neighbors, also retired, had a female visitor, a rather young female visitor, who also had a very large black Labrador with her. This woman pushed the dog into the pool, and then the two of them proceeded to play and frolic in the water for several hours. I’m not a puritan, but I don’t think dogs ought to be swimming in our pool. We’ve since learned this woman is our neighbor’s—although she looks young enough to be his daughter or granddaughter. My husband doesn’t want to make waves by complaining to our neighbor, but I don’t feel comfortable swimming in the pool knowing that it’s being used by someone’s four-legged friend. What should I do?
