Chapter 6
Lloyd
I knew that I saw what I saw.
I was on my way to the usual spot to see what the guys were up to when I heard the slight screams. I quickly rode my bike towards them, heading past the hospital where Annetteâs mother was. I thought about stepping in to say hi, but it wasnât my place.
I heard about a commotion on 3rd avenue from one of my guys. I drove down there, parked my bike and headed out. I heard the screams clearly at this point.
I quickly made my way down the alley in the distance, surprised at what was happening. Thatâs when I saw it. A middle-aged man being held up at knifepoint. He had the blade right up against the victimâs neck.
âN-no, please! Donât do this,â he was pleading.
âCome on, give me your money,â the assailant demanded.
The older man looked about, unable to find anyone. He looked panicked, and it was at this point that I knew I had to do something.
âCome on, give me your fucking money,â aid the assailant, holding the blade steady.
I had to do something. I couldnât just sit there and watch some half-baked bastard hurt this old man. I reached for my gun, holding it to the guysâ head.
âYouâre trying to start shit with a guy like this? An old man who probably doesnât have much money? God, youâre pathetic. My men scared you guys out of our turf, and now youâre here harassing random strangers. Pathetic,â I said.
The guy turned around, fear obvious on his face. He didnât want trouble with me, but I wasnât going to just sit there and let him continue to bother people.
âP-please donât kill me,â he said.
âThen get the fuck out of my sight,â I told him, holding the gun, and nudging it there.
âButââ
âGet the fuck out of this town. Take your men and go somewhere else. If you do that, Iâll let you live. Promise me,â I ordered.
He hesitated, and I could see the worry in his eyes. He didnât want this to happen, but it was high time someone stopped people like this. Finally, he started to pull away, running off.
âGood, and if I catch you and your guys in this city one more time, Iâll kill them,â I told him as he progressed.
I turned to the older man, who was in shock at my appearance. I smiled at him, reaching down and checking for any signs of injury.
âYou can move, right?â I asked.
âY-yeah. He just came up and mugged me,â the man said.
âYeah, heâs from a rival group. Theyâve been creating trouble for us,â I told him.
âA-alright, thanks,â he said.
âNo problem. Anyway, do you need a ride back to wherever you came from? I donât see any cars around,â I said.
He tensed, but then nodded.
âI suppose Iâll accept the offer. Not like I have anyone to call. My daughter is with her mom,â he said.
Daughter with her mom? He wasnâtâ¦. No way.
âAre you by chance the father of Annette Garrison?â I asked.
