Eric was long gone when Lily left Shayâs building. She had waited for the doors to be fixed and the carpets to be cleaned. Lily walked into the Crown Building and waved at the doorman. The scanner was turned off since the doorman was there watching with his wolf. She rode the elevator to the seventy second floor to see Erica.
âAre you ok?â Erica asked as soon as she opened the door and saw Lily.
âIâm great!â Lily grinned from ear to ear.
âCome in. Tell me what happened.â
Lily sat on the Victorian couch in Ericaâs living room. Erica went to the liquor cabinet and poured them each a glass of scotch. Erica sat down across from Lily in the chair that matched the couch. The furniture was probably one hundred and twenty years old, but well taken care of. Erica took a sip of scotch and sat the glass on the table between them.
âShe was attacked Erica. Someone broke into her apartment and tried to kill her. Why would someone want to hurt Shay? She doesnât bother anyone. She goes to work and then goes home.â
âHas anyone at the bar been acting strange lately? I know you two go there on the weekends a lot.â
Lily thought as hard as she could about anyone out of place at the bar but couldnât think of any.
âNo, I donât remember seeing any new faces and all the familiar faces seemed to be minding their own business. Not interested in Shay or me.â
âOr you?â Erica said almost too low to hear. âCould Eric have done this?â
âNo!â Lily gasped, dismissing the idea. âDo you think he was that mad that I missed finals at Ellenâs?â
âI wouldnât put it past him, sweetheart. Look out for him from now on. You know what heâs capable of.â
âYeah I do.â
Lily finished telling Erica the story about what happened the day before.
âShe likes me, too!â Lily practically yelled. âShe kissed me then the clothes came off andâ¦â
âWhoa,â laughed Erica. âI donât need details.â
Lily laughed. She told Erica all about the dayâs events and how much she loved LaShay. Erica believed that Lily was in love, but only time would tell if it were her one true love. Vincent was going to need a lot more than Lilyâs word. He was going to need proof. Lots of it.
