Dear Friends,

Again I have happy news to send you—news in which your pledge gives you the right to share. My dear young Brother George Arundale has passed the great Portal, and has become a member of the White Brotherhood. You will all rejoice with us.

You will understand now why I have been obliged to preserve some secrecy as to my whereabouts this spring. Seclusion is necessary in these cases. I tried to find the necessary seclusion in India, but curiosity and suspicion baffled me, and I was forced to take refuge in Europe at great trouble and expense.

All the turmoil raised was aimed at preventing the accomplishment of this great piece of work: I sent you word of the first half; this is the third quarter.
