We boarded the metro, laughing at our antics of the previous day and settled into the couple seat. I was starting to feel that this seat could very soon become a usual place for the two of us. The idea of leaving my van and using the metro to commute to and from college crossed my mind. I decided to consider it and discuss it with Mom on top priority.

We reached the secret station very soon – it was the station where he used to de-board for his place. As we got of the metro, I caught his eye. There was a spark that little children have when you take them to the park. He sure was excited. And as of me, I was thrilled. I was on a date with Raaghav.

“So, what would you want to have for lunch?” he asked as we walked out of the station.

A street vendor selling corn on the cob caught my eye and I jumped eagerly. I just didn’t know how to behave like a lady and with Raaghav around I was all the more casual. He seemed to like it as I could see from the expressions on his face.

“Let’s begin with that?” I eagerly pointed to the corn vendor.

“Great!” The joy on his face was adorable.

As we relished the deliciously buttered corns, I suggested we indulge in only street food. He was delighted by it, adding on to say that he’d love to try out some joints he had been wishing to go to but couldn’t find someone to go along with.

“Well here I am. This is me. There’s nowhere else on earth I’d rather be!” I had joked and so began our touring around the streets. We spent a good two and half hours, pit stopping whenever a delicacy caught our attention. I never knew I had so much capacity to eat. And laugh either! Raaghav was hilarious!

All the eating was interspersed with a good amount of sightseeing too, and he enthusiastically showed me all the places he used to visit as a kid. He showed me his house too, from afar though, before heading over to a nearby park.

Dusk was falling.

“Do you trust me, Ira?” he asked suddenly as I sat gazing at the flowers, seeping in the bliss of the moment.

“Of course, I do!” I smiled back at him.

He got up and put forward his hand.

“Come.”

I gladly took his hand – warm, soft and so snug around mine. We walked to the far end of the park where the lawns were gradually being replaced by trees. As the foliage got denser, I realized this part of the park was not as well lit up. It also seemed to be deserted. We continued to walk deeper into the thickening trees and the passage became narrower, until suddenly it ended. Raaghav turned around and looked deeply into my eyes.

“I have your trust, right?”

I nodded. He turned and we continued to walk, now off the pavement and into the trees. With my free hand I pinched my thigh to ensure this wasn’t a dream.
