Chapter Twelve

Rikki glanced in the direction of Simon’s voice. He stood off to her right by the armchair with the remote control in his hand.

She pushed the hair from her face and smiled. “That’s okay.”

“You two look cozy.” He smiled. “Have a good afternoon?”

From the sound of deep breathing beside her, she knew Carter was still asleep.

“Yeah, we went in the hot tub, then spent the afternoon by the pool.”

“That sounds like much more fun than putting out a fire in a newspaper stand.” He smiled, appreciatively gazing at her naked legs curled in front of her. “Especially if it involved watching you skinny-dipping.”

“No, afraid not. Got a bathing suit on under this shirt.”

“Yeah? You want to show me?”

She realized she did.

She glanced at the still sleeping Carter and eased herself away, then stood up. Excitement sizzled through her at Simon’s heated gaze locked on her when she moved toward him. She peeled the shirt from her body and tossed it aside, her hormones twitching as his blue eyes darkened to navy at the sight of her barely covered breasts.

She flattened her hands on his chest and pressed him backward to the armchair, then pushed him into it. She climbed onto his lap and unbuttoned his shirt. The feel of his hard, sculpted muscles under her fingertips aroused her.

“You feel good,” she murmured as she kissed his neck.
