“I don’t care how you do it, just get them out of there, Mason,” I growl into the phone before slamming the receiver down.

“What’s going on, Boss?” Stefan asks, leaning back in the leather chair across from my desk, a drink in his hand. He had just come back from Alessandro’s where Antonio took over looking after Jessika, while I was on the phone with my lawyer.

“They’re not telling him anything. All they’ll say is that they got a tip. He’s working on getting them both released now. They should be home in a couple hours.” I take a seat, running a hand through my hair.

“Why were they investigating anyway?”

“They didn’t know I was involved. New captain is breathing down their necks about us too. He’s cracking down on every officer he thinks is on our payroll.” I crack my neck from side to side, but the calming feeling isn’t there. I crack my knuckles, but nothing. “Fuuuck!” I roar, slamming a fist on the wood of my desk. Shoving out of my seat, I walk over to my bar and pour a few fingers of bourbon. Without turning back to Stefan, I say, “I don’t care what you have to do, who you have to fuck, I want to know everything there is to know about this new captain. And I want it fucking yesterday.”

“Yes, Boss,” he says, then the door to my office slams shut.
