“Was that all you came to ask?” I swiveled my chair back, adjusting the shoulders of my suit.

“All? You think the board’s not going to call you on this?”

“I really have no idea what they’re going to do.”

“They’re going to ask you for those numbers.”

“I’ll give them all the numbers. Just like I gave them to you.” I gave a careless shrug. I had to work not to laugh aloud. Russell was sure that the secret was in the numbers, that if he only looked hard enough, he could discover it. Let him wear himself down on that. He could look as much as he liked.
