Devin “The Devil’ Winchester

Sammy came sprinting toward my bike. I planned a nice weekend for us. Things had settled down enough that we could take some time to relax. Adam was done. The club was preparing for the convention, where we’d unload our stock to our buyer. Charlie was close to being caught, which made Sammy happy. I would have rather had a chance to meet him. I would have loved to get a minute alone with him. It was all the time I’d need.

That was what I didn’t understand about prison. Charlie would go to prison. Prison didn’t rehabilitate a person. Especially not fuckers like Charlie. Charlie would hurt someone again, and the next victim might not be as lucky as Sammy.

Shit. Maybe I could talk to Mathias about Charlie. The Sons of the Shadow was a brutal group of people, and we were even more brutal when you fucked with our loved ones. Though, I wasn’t sure how Sammy would feel about that. She wanted to take him out herself. I couldn’t blame her, either. It was like my dad. If anyone was going to get justice for the shit he did to me and my mom, it would be me.

Sammy put her helmet on and wrapped her arms around me.

God, I was so fucking lucky. I had a beautiful woman, a beautiful bike, and nothing but time. This was what the life was all about.

“Hey,” she said, “Can you find some quiet place, in the middle of nowhere, for us to stop this afternoon? I packed a lunch.”

“I know a place,” I grinned.

I thought of this beautiful meadow on the side of the highway. I’d seen it many times on this route. It was a tranquil place, with flowers and tall grass. There was nothing else for miles and miles. It was untouched by the world.

She squeezed me tight, kissing my cheek.

“Alright, we’ve got a long trip ahead of us. I hope you like the scenic route,” I said.

“You know I do, baby!”
