Tuesday, May 19th

I FEEL LIKE DEATH, SO when the alarm starts beeping, I hit snooze and skip my workout in lieu of getting out of bed with Tavin. As far as I know, she didn’t have any night terrors, so we at least got to sleep for a couple of hours. Rolling over, I reach my arm out for her when the scene before me comes into focus and my heart sinks into my nauseated stomach.

Her entire back is shredded and bloody, bruised and welted. My white sheets are smeared in scarlet. I rip my fingers through my hair.

Oh my God… What the fuck did I do?!

Reaching out to touch her, I think better of it and pull my hand back. I wish I could wipe it all away. She moans and turns her head to look at me as she smiles.

“Mmm, good morning.”

I am horrified. I did this? My voice comes out shaky. “Tavin…I…I’m so sorry.”

She slowly leans up on her elbows. “For what?”

“What do you think? For tearing you apart!” I scream at her, I cannot believe I let myself completely lose control. I shove off the blankets and as she sits up, she’s clearly in pain.

“Don’t, Lex. I liked it, and you needed to let it out. Please don’t do this guilt thing.” I shake my head and when I look to the floor I see the whip. I must have taken that to her too. She climbs out of bed, and can’t stand up completely straight. “You don’t get it. I need the pain. You didn’t do anything wrong, Lex. I love what we did last night.”

“You can’t even fucking stand up! This is not okay, Tav! How can I want to hurt you and protect you at the same time? It doesn’t make sense. If someone else did this to you, I would want to slit their Goddamn throat.”

She smirks and places her hand on my arm. “You’re so sweet.”

Pulling my arm back, I twist away from her. I can’t handle her affection right now. This is so fucked up. I’m confused and I need to clear my head. That isn’t going to happen with her naked, beaten body standing in front of me.

“I need to get ready for work.”

I glance at the bloodied sheets and shake my head before disappearing into my bathroom to shower.

She isn’t in my room when I finish and her bedroom door is closed as I walk by. I almost stop to say goodbye when I glance at my watch. I don’t have enough time.

Cara Jo is in the kitchen when I run through. “I’m running behind today, I’ll just take an orange.” I’m being short with her and she ignores it as usual.

She hands me the orange. “Don’t forget I’m leaving at one today for my appointment.”

I did forget about that and today is the day Sasha has to leave for her client consult. I can’t very well tell either of them no, so I’ll just try to skip out early.
