“You brought me here?” Getting out of the car quickly, I screamed in excitement and wonder as I placed my hands over my mouth, admiring the nature around me.

We were in the center of Moscow, in Red Square. The huge ice rink was decorated yearly to greet the upcoming winter and allow people from all over the world to enjoy the beauty of the Russian winter. Colorful lights were scattered around the Kremlin and on the ice rink’s borders, bringing up the holiday atmosphere. On the right stood a big Christmas tree with the most beautiful Christmas toys showcased in the wonderful light where tourists and locals could take pictures or just play around. Several small tents sold souvenirs, delicious food filling the air with its smell, and even winter coats and shoes if anyone had the need. A small entertainment park allowed kids to enjoy different rides as they screamed with joy and parents clapped. In other words, the whole area allowed for a nice family vacation.

The ice rink was relatively empty, but in a few hours, it would have so many people it would be hard to glide around. Music blasted from the speakers, making it easier to skate and more interesting with a beat to it. Gleb chose the perfect time. I always dreamed of coming here, but we never had an opportunity when I was a kid.

“How did you know?” I spun around to him as he held two pairs of skates in his hands.

“I have my ways.” He winked and then challenged me. “So how are your skating skills, zlatovlasaya? Because you are looking at a pro.”

Crossing my arms, I said, “Oh yeah?”

“Yep, hockey goalie all through high school.” Then he brought us closer. “Don’t you worry. I’ll be there to catch you in case you fall.” He was just too smug for his own good.

Pointing at the nearby bench where we could put our skates on, I asked, “How about a bet? If you catch me in the rink, I’ll do whatever you want.”

That got his attention as his eyes hooded with desire, his body instantly reacting to that.

“You have a deal.” We shook hands and he pulled me closer, fishing for a kiss, but I stepped back.

“Let’s get in the rink.”

“You in a rush to lose?” he asked, but I just smiled at him.

I might have spent most of my life training and dancing for ballet, but I was born and raised in Siberia.

We had a hell of a lot of ice rinks too.
