“If you wouldn’t cheat, then I could win.” I took off my bowling shoes and slipped back into high-heels.

“You can’t cheat at bowling.” Max sat next to me and tied up his boots. I just rolled my eyes. I wanted to argue with him, but I just let it go.

We played all ten frames, and I lost every one of them. Max tried to give me pointers each time I went up to bowl, but nothing helped. I just sucked at it.

“I want a rematch.” I stood up with my hands on my hips.

“Right now?”

“No, it’s getting late and I need to head home, but I want one soon.”

“Deal.” Max gave me his sexy smirk.

Max got up and reached for my hand. I took it as we headed toward the door.

“I’m sorry, excuse me.” A very pretty, dark haired, young girl stopped us before we made it to the door. “Are you Max Crawford?” She smiled brightly.

“Yes, I am.” He smiled back to her.

“Oh, wow, I’m your biggest fan, like ever.” She giggled at him and touched his arm. I felt my blood boil. I didn’t mind the fans because Max did have a lot of them.

It was always the females that’d look at me like I was some groupie instead of Max’s girlfriend. I watched Max interact with the fan, and he was nice enough to take a picture with her. I just stood there and, surprisingly, didn’t say anything when she wrapped herself around him in a hug.

“Don’t be upset.” Max enveloped his arms around me when got outside next to the car.

“I’m not,” I lied.

“Liar,” Max leaned down and whispered.

“I know that I shouldn’t be jealous, but I told you a long time ago I don’t like them hanging all over you.”

“I know, but the important thing is,” he gently brushed his lips against mine, “I’m ready to go home with you and only you.” I felt my knees growing weak. Max was able to make me melt no matter what emotion I was feeling at the time.

“As badly as I want you to come home with me, you can’t.” I smiled sadly at him.

“Why?”

“Because I have that job interview in the morning and I don’t want to be yawning in the middle of it because you kept me up all night.” I pushed him away and opened my car door. Max came around, getting into the driver’s seat.

“I think you need me to come home with you so you’ll be all relaxed during the interview.” He gave me a small smile. I just pushed on his shoulder and listened to his incredible laugh.

“Not tonight, Max.”

“I don’t know why you’re so scared about tomorrow. It’s in the bag.”

I shook my head. I knew if I started pouring my feelings out, I might’ve cried. I could feel the tears creeping up, but I blinked them away and tried to concentrate on Max talking.

“So, what do you think?”

“About what?” I wasn’t paying attention. I was thinking about the interview.

“You’re not paying attention.
