CHAPTER 19

At the foot of the bed, in the penthouse suite of The Ashton Star, Jade waited.

On her knees. Her hair loose, gathered over one shoulder. The emerald-green dress hung carefully in the closet, leaving her dressed in the lingerie Simone had gifted her—a bra and panties made of the finest silk, black overlaid with lace as white and delicate as snow.

And Simone’s necklace of diamonds and sapphires encircling her neck.

Jade’s body pulsed with anticipation. What would Simone do when she walked through the door to find Jade waiting for her, on her knees, dressed in nothing but her gifts? Would she take Jade in with those mesmerizing amber eyes before devouring her with ravenous lips and hands? Would she tie Jade up and assail her with sensual delights while leaving her powerless to do anything but beg for release?

Would Simone make love to her in a way that was sweet and tender, but demanding and possessive at the same time?

The gift of surrender. That was what Simone wanted from her. That was what Jade longed to give her. Trust and vulnerability didn’t come easy to her. But with Simone, it felt right.

The faint sound of the elevator arriving at the penthouse reached her, followed by the click of heels echoing up to the high ceilings as Simone made her way to the bedroom. Jade’s heartbeat quickened. The last hour had crawled by. But now that the moment she’d been waiting for had arrived, the doubts in her mind reemerged. Was she truly ready for this? Would she ever be?

But she barely had a moment to second guess herself before Simone appeared in the doorway to the bedroom.

Jade peered up at her. She was still wearing the long mauve cocktail dress she’d worn to dinner, her hair in a loose updo and her lips an irresistible shade of red. Yet here and now, alone in their suite together, she was even more captivating than before.

Simone stepped into the room, hips swaying. “What a beautiful sight to come back to.”

She circled around Jade, piercing eyes scorching her skin. Jade’s breath deepened. She didn’t move an inch.

“You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this moment,” Simone said, sweeping her fingers along the back of Jade’s shoulders. “To have you on your knees. At my feet.”

She moved to stand in front of Jade, skimming her fingertips up Jade’s neck, grazing the necklace around it.

“This will be just as sweet for me as it will be for you.”

Jade quivered, electricity sparking through her at Simone’s touch. She kept her head down, not daring to look her in the eye.

“Wait right here for me,” Simone said. “Do not move. Do not speak. Wait. Understand?”

Jade nodded.

Simone’s footsteps receded. Seconds passed in silence, then minutes. All the while, Jade waited for Simone for the second time that night.

And after an eternity, Simone returned to the bedroom. From Jade’s place at the foot of the bed, her eyes downcast, all she could see of Simone were heeled feet and long legs clad in sheer black pantyhose pacing around the bedroom.
