Raindrops splattered against my window that Tuesday afternoon. The light tapping was soothing as I sat at my desk and managed all my frontiers at once. I’d had a meeting that morning that wasn’t as productive as I hoped it would be, but at least it was a step in the right direction.
Something about the rain put me at ease. Like white noise that blocked out the sounds you didn’t want to hear, the rain sheathed me from the cacophony and chaos of the city. If I hadn’t had that meeting today, I probably wouldn’t have come to work at all. I would have stayed in my penthouse and worked from home in front of the fireplace.
Natalie tapped her knuckles against my wooden door before she poked her head inside. “Sir, Ms. Titan is here to see you.”
I nearly did a double take.
“She’s not on your schedule for the afternoon. Shall I send her away?”
I had a meeting with my financial advisor, but that could wait until another day. “No. Clear my schedule for the next hour.”
“Okay, sir.”
“And don’t disturb us.”
Natalia gave a quick nod before she walked out.
I didn’t know what Titan wanted, but I hoped it was something unprofessional.
Titan walked inside a moment later, a long, black rain jacket covering her dress underneath. She was in her usual stilettos, solid black and sleek. There wasn’t a single scuff mark on them, as if they were brand new.
They probably were, actually.
I didn’t rise from my chair, watching her like a hawk watched its prey. Now she was in my world, on my turf. This was my kingdom, and she was a mere citizen now. I was the king, and she was a simple subject.
She sat down in the leather armchair facing my desk and immediately crossed her legs. “Thanks for seeing me, Hunt.”
“Pleasure is all mine.” My arms rested on the armrests of my chair, and my leg was crossed, one ankle resting on the opposite knee. My fingertips felt the wooden armrest underneath me, drawing intricate circles. My office was a direct contrast to hers. I preferred rich and dark colors, bold aesthetics that matched the testosterone running through my veins. It was a powerful place, a home where most of my ideas were born.
Titan sat in an elegant position, her back rigid and straight but the features of her face soft. Her hair was down that afternoon, her dark strands acting as a curtain around the back of her head. It reached down her shoulders and past her gorgeous tits. She didn’t bring a bag with her or a folder. Whatever she wanted to discuss would only be conveyed verbally.
That was a good sign.
“How can I help you, Titan?” As with any business meeting, I didn’t voice my assumptions before the other party stated their demands. I suspected I knew why she was there, but I wasn’t going to throw my hat in the ring just yet.
“I wanted to know if you’d reconsidered my offer.”
There was only one offer she’d made, so I assumed she wasn’t talking about anything else.
