THE ANNOUNCEMENT

As the two rulers made their way to the amphitheatre at the Temple of Lights, Gabriel remained in the same place on the floor. Bastian put his hand on his shoulder, and he started to get up.

“Are you okay?” Bastian asked.

Gabriel nodded, struggling to speak.

“Why are you going along with this? They’re insane.” Gabriel was pale, his light had completely vanished; he couldn’t find anything to say to his cousin. They moved towards the temple’s exterior plateau and stood behind the king and queen who had been joined by Sky and Amalia.

Gabriel could see the crowd arriving and taking their place in the stone amphitheatre that surrounded the temple. All four tribes were present, but they were mostly separated from each other. Each group huddled together with people from their own clan. While there was some engagement between Ange’el, Ma’asai, and Yi’ingo, the Hu’urei kept themselves isolated from the others.

As Marcus began speaking, Gabriel looked at the statuesque Sky, now wearing her full Yi’ingo regalia—a golden chain mail armour dress adorned with a body plate, decorated with the symbol of Yi’ingo, the phoenix. Her helmet showcased two wings, the symbol of an Ahe’ey guardian. There she stood, in all her glory, showcasing all her power, dressed as the guardian of her people, sending a clear message to all that she was their leader. Her eyes expressed the intensity and rage of a thousand solar storms.

Sage, Morgan and the rest of Gabriel’s children arrived and stood downstairs in front of the large crowd and just a few metres away from the royal family. The Ange’el’s eyes were set on Morgan; the darkness in his gaze conveyed his unspoken sorrow. He communicated directly into her mind, “I’m sorry.” She looked at him and her quizzing eyes searched for answers.

Marcus spoke: “Ten years have passed since the war ended. Our society has found peace under the protection of our brave Yi’ingo warriors. Our soil is fertile and rich due to the hard work of the Ma’asai. Our homes and venues have been rebuilt to their former glory due to the mastery of the Hu’urei. The Ange’el have provided our children with a solid education system and have supported our spiritual and physical well-being. Our land is flourishing. We are ready to let go of our recent past and refocus again on the mission of our founding foremothers and forefathers.

“We are prepared to take the last steps to fully reintegrate our tribes and allow every citizen to take part in all roles and to enjoy the same rights and opportunities.” The Hu’urei cheered. The men had some level of trust with Marcus, and his words were welcomed with enthusiasm.

“This will enable us to focus on our fellow earthlings, to help them evolve beyond the mindless greed that threatens Earth and all its living beings. Viviane and I have served you the best we could through a dark period of Ahe’ey’s history. We could not have done it without the support and leadership of Sky.
