Morning comes all too quickly, and my blaring alarm works its way into my already pounding head.

Christ. When will this headache go away?

It did. For a few all too brief minutes last night after I came—all five times. I finally felt like myself again. Owen did that. Well, Owen and my hand. The man insisted on going down on me again, and again, again. All fucking night. He’s a goddamn personal orgasm machine.

And not once did he try to take it further.

Any other time, I might be offended, but given that he’s obviously trying to be altruistic, it was really sweet.

I roll over to smack my alarm clock to sleep and to say good morning to Owen, but the bed is empty beside me.

Huh. Maybe he had early court?

It’s not a big deal. I’m not a clingy girl who needs to be snuggled and cuddled the morning after. Although, those things are great with the right person. I just would have expected him to say goodbye or at least leave a note.

I’m just about to swing my leg over the bed when the apartment door open and closes.

Who the hell is that?

No one but Riley has my keys, and I know she had a shoot this morning, so there’s no way she would be on this side of town.

Owen appears in the doorway, with a grin and a carrier with coffee cups and white paper bag on top of it.

“Good morning, counselor. Sleep well?”

I smile and nod, stretching like a cat and settling back against the headboard. “I did. You?”

He wanders over to me and leans down to plant a kiss on my lips. “Like a dream.”

A dream? Huh, can’t say anyone’s ever said that about sleeping with me before.

“What did you bring me?”

He hands me a cup and the white paper bag. “A triple shot latte and a croissant. I had no idea what you like or how you take your coffee, so I went with the basics.”

“The basics are perfect. Thank you.”

The man actually winks at me.

Who the hell winks?

I don’t know if it’s sexy or childish, but the tingle between my legs answers the question for me.

Owen walks around to the other side of the bed and sits down with his own coffee. “I have to get going soon. I don’t have any court today, but I have a client meeting at ten and then five more over the rest of the day.”

The trial ensured I have a clear calendar today, but I can’t spend another minute sitting in this apartment in my sick bed. I need to be working, producing something. It’s not in me to relax for long, and this has already felt like a lengthy vacation. One where I had massive headaches and my back hurt, but still a vacation in that it was a break from the daily grind.

“I’m going to head into the office in a bit.”

His head snaps around, and his eyes narrow on me. “You’re going to work today?”

I shrug and take a sip of my coffee.
