BILLIE
Returning home after that eye-opening visit with Brenda was a relief. The mood instantly lightened when we told the rest of the band that the information leak for Dirty Truths was none other than their managerâs bored house-husband. Rhett laughed so hard he cried, then apologized profusely to Jace for laughing when Tess had nearly died from the whole thing.
Grayson was somewhat more sedate about the information.
âJust because weâve gotten to the bottom of that blog site doesnât mean that crazy fans arenât still going to exist,â he warned us with a deep frown. âBrendaâs dead-shit husband didnât make them obsess so hard they were literally willing to kill over us. He just fanned the flames, but the fire was already alight.â
âGrayâs right.â Angelo nodded. âThis isnât reason to let our guard down. Nor is that man solely responsible for all the shit going on right now. Even if it would feel good to blame him.â He arched a brow at Jace, who sneered back and extended his middle finger.
âWell, in other news,â Jace changed the subject, draping his arm over my shoulders where I sat beside him, âBrenda thinks sheâs come to an agreement with Giovanni to release us from our Big Noise contract.â
The shocked silence was so quiet youâd be able to hear a mouse fart.
âBullshit,â Angelo growled. âAnd why is this the first Iâm hearing of it?â
Jace screwed up his nose. âWhy wouldnât it be the first youâre hearing of it? Do you and Brenda have something going on that we arenât aware of?â
Oh shit. Angeloâs deal with Brenda meant she should have run any and all deals through him before taking it to Jace. But Jace didnât know that, and he sure as fuck wouldnât be happy if he did know thatâ¦
âAngelo and Brenda had a thing,â I blurted out, trying really fucking hard to save my Angelâs ass. And Brendaâs. She was a good manager, even if her husband was an asshole. âThey, um, slept together.â
Angelo quirked a brow at me, his lips twitching like he was holding back a laugh. He understood, though, and nodded slowly. âBillieâs right. It was more than a year ago⦠Our paths crossed in a bar, and one thing led to another.â
Jace wasnât buying our shit. âOkay so why would that have any bearing on her telling you Bellerose business before the rest of us? Unless itâs ongoing?â
Ah fuck, well that hadnât been well thought out.
âItâs most definitely not,â Angelo replied firmly. âBillie is it for me.â
Rhett let out a loud, exaggerated yawn like he could sense there was something more going on and wanted to provide a distraction. It worked, too, with both Jace and Angelo turning to look at him with puzzlement.
âUm, so, I had a thoughtâ¦â Rhett started, toying with his lip ring. âOr I had a thought the other day, during my session with Doc, and then I was going to ask you guys what you thought, but then I second-guessed my thought, so went
