Alicia stretched the full length of bed when she awoke the next morning, feeling more refreshed than she had since no telling how long. Perhaps she benefited from indulging in only one glass of wine with her pizza the night before, despite how full that glass may have been. After Mason had gone, she had snuggled down into her warmest pajamas with pizza, wine, and Casablanca, and each time the memory of what had transpired between them encroached on her thoughts, she pushed it back down.
When she rolled her head up, she noticed the marks the handcuffs had left on the headboard. She drew her forefinger across them and smiled as a trill ran through her. The cuffs had left no lasting impression on her wrists, which left her oddly disappointed. Then she sat straight up in bed, flinging the covers off of her and covering her face with her hands. What the hell was the matter with her? The events of the night before had unfolded quite naturally, but now the morning light cast a shadow across every magical moment.
“Oh, God. What must he think of me?” she moaned into her hands. Then she lowered her arms and scowled. What do I think of him? she thought. He orders her around, cuffs her, puts his thing in her mouth—even spanks her!
She sucked in a sudden gasp of air with such force, she had to swallow to keep from coughing. “He must be into S&M!” How typical for a cop to be a sadist! So did he think she was a masochist? Except he hadn’t caused her any pain, not really. In fact, she had never before experienced such pleasure. She leaned back against the headboard, closed her eyes, and basked in the memory. She had no idea what this meant for her now—for them! Were they boyfriend and girlfriend? They weren’t exactly dating, but she couldn’t wait for a replay of the night before.
With these thoughts and a mental note to call her attorney for a status on her pending divorce, Alicia went on to the master bath to shower, passing the tub and thinking about how he’d bathed her. He had saved her, bathed her, pampered her, pleasured her. She had given him complete control, and he had taken care of her. Never before had she felt so…cherished. And by a virtual stranger! What did this say about her? She resolved to embark on a thorough Internet search on the topic once she got out of the shower.
The steam from the shower rolled out when she opened the door, and she dried off and wrapped the towel around her chest before stepping out. She always preferred hot showers, so as usual the mirror had fogged over, but her blood ran cold at the sight of the words legible in the glass. YOU KNOW THE TRUTH.
Alicia stared at the mirror until her breath returned, but her pulse continued to race in her chest. She peered around but found no evidence that anyone had come in during the few minutes she’d been in the shower.
