“Please!”

“No.”

“Come on, please! Please! Please!” I pleaded, turning in my seat to look at Liam.

“Why?”

“Because you have a great voice and I’d love to hear it.” I said, grinning. I watched as his face soften as he let out a sigh. I knew I’d won.

“Okay, fine. What song?” he asked, staring at the road ahead.

“Whatever song that comes on that you know.” Turning the radio up a little more, we waited as the current song ended. As soon as the next song came on, my grin widened. He had to know this one.

“No,” he said sternly as he recognized the beat immediately.

“Yes! You promised.”

“Hell no, Jenna.” Liam shook his head.

“Pwease!” I pouted. I brought my hands to my chest and pouted my lips. Even in the darkness of the car I was hoping it would work. He glanced at me and sighed once more.

“Fine.” He groaned, not looking happy that I won.

“Okay, anytime.” I motioned for him to go as the main chorus to Justin Bieber’s “Baby” was coming up. Liam sang. I couldn’t help but laugh at him, even though his voice sounded great. As the song continued, I noticed he was bopping his head to the beat and even drumming his fingers on the steering wheel. As the Ludacris part came on, I sat up straighter. My time to shine. Liam and I sung it together perfectly. Laughing, we continued to sing along to Justin Bieber’s song. The car came to a stop at a red light, so I turned to grin widely at Liam as the song started to slowly fade. But right as I turned, bright lights heading our way made me freeze.

“Liam!” I barely had time to yell before suddenly I was smashed back against the door and the sound of metal against metal meet my ears. Everything seemed to go in slow motion.

I was pressed roughly against the door, my spine flashing with pain. It went unnoticed as the car suddenly started to flip. I heard a high-pitched scream and didn’t know if it was from me or someone else. I clenched my eyes shut as the world tipped upside down. The smashing of glass and the creaking of metal met my ears. I gripped onto anything I could before the car slammed back down on the roof. My whole body fell as my head came in contact with the top of the car.

I could feel something wet running down the side of my face as I struggled to open my eyes. Once I did, I wanted to shut them again but I couldn’t. I was upside down. The only thing keeping me still was my seatbelt. There was the sound of metal creaking, and a hiss reached my ears. Liam! Turning my neck hurt, but I had to make sure Liam was okay.

“Liam,” I said. Just as I turned, I noticed he was completely still in his seat, blood running down the side of his face. “Liam!” I yelled. He looked pinned to the chair because his entire side of the vehicle was crunched up.
