Chapter Five
Tommy took her at her word, not letting her put much space between them. Arm’s length was too much. They’d showered together, managing to not let lust overtake them again. They’d dressed in the room, watching each other out of the corners of their eyes.
He’d wondered if she was as fascinated with his every move as he was with hers. Watching her don a bra had been the sexiest sight ever. It was a lacy thing with the clasp between her breasts. She slid it onto her arms like he donned his shirt, then quickly pulled the cups over her small round mounds and clipped it closed. But then she’d slid a hand into one cup, moving her breast to fill it, and then repeated the process with the other breast, until both cups swelled. He hoped she’d let him put her bra on for her just once this weekend.
When she’d glanced up, a question in her eyes, he’d adjusted himself, cupping his burgeoning erection and grimacing because his pants were too tight.
They left the hotel to drive to a place they both knew well, an upscale steakhouse with a pricey menu but a spacious dining room that allowed for quiet, private conversation. It was early evening, but the hot sun was still punishing.
Sarah wore a black sleeveless dress that hugged her lithe curves. He wore a dress shirt and slacks, dark highly polished boots. He’d left his cowboy hat behind. Beneath her approving stare, he was glad he’d made the effort to look like he belonged beside her. They’d unpinned the trailer, and he was driving the truck, giving her sideways glances because he simply couldn’t stop looking.
Sarah Colby was going on a date with him. The world would look at them and know they were together, because they both wore very well-satisfied expressions, had relaxed bodies and shared soft intimate smiles.
He’d love to have this every day, knowing other men looked at her and coveted the tall, strong woman beside him. So she had a few wrinkles beside her eyes and lining her forehead. So fucking what.
“You keep staring,” she said, tucking a strand of brown hair behind her ear.
Her makeup was light, barely there, enhancing rather than covering her pale skin. Strawberry gloss was on her lips. At his insistence, she’d worn her hair down. She’d styled it, complaining she never took the time. But she’d packed a blow-dryer and a flat iron, so she must have planned to primp.
The thought made his smile stretch.
She glared from beneath her dark lashes. “Stop looking like that or everyone will know what we’ve been doing.”
Tommy snagged her hand from her lap and squeezed it. “Sugar, it won’t be my smile that telegraphs that fact. You have the look.”
“What look?”
“The look of a thoroughly ravished woman.”
She chuckled. “Ravished, huh? Not sure what that looks like.”
Tommy laughed while he pulled into the restaurant parking lot. “Don’t jump down the moment we stop. Let me be a gentleman.”
“Tommy Triplehorn, that’s exactly what you are.
