Chapter 17

Theo

I had to get out of there quickly. I grabbed the money she had on the nightstand like usual and headed toward the door.

“I’ll see you soon, sweetie.” I didn’t even acknowledge her. I just kept walking. After I walked out the door, I realized that I needed to find my dealer and soon. My back is killing me. The pain of it was subduing the voices in my head, but it would only work so long. I started to walk down the street and could feel the blood dripping down my back onto my shirt. Fuck. I couldn’t do this anymore.

I kept walking and before I knew it, I was in front of her hotel. What the hell? I started to backtrack and walk away, but when I turned, there she was. It was like she was a magnet and I was just drawn to her. Fuck it.

I started walking toward her. I saw she looked hesitant, yet I didn’t know why. When I got to her, she started to scream, but I latched my hand around her mouth.

"It’s me, please stop." Then she froze and turned toward me.

"Finally decide you want to have a good night?"

I smiled for a second, but it felt so weird. But she was the only one that had been able to make me smile, since I didn’t know when. She went to wrap her hands around me and pushed them under my hoodie. I hissed. She instantly pulled back and looked at me. Before I knew it, she was rounding me to look at the spot her hands were before. She gasped. I didn’t know what she saw because I had a black hoodie on.

"Why are you bleeding?"

Shit. What made me wonder if this was a good idea? I went to turn and walk away, but she grabbed me this time.

"Come inside. Let me help you get cleaned up."

I studied her for a second. I could see she was being genuine now, not that hardass she normally was. I nodded. She didn’t let go of my arm as if thinking I was going to run. She had her arm in mine and was practically dragging me to the elevator. I didn’t put up any fight because I didn’t have anything left in me. We got in and she hit her floor number. When we stepped out, she still had a grip on me until we got to her door and she needed to find her keycard. She looked at me with a fierce glare.

"Don’t move." Should I go? I really needed to find my dealer because I was about to turn into an asshole. But I wanted to be there. I wanted to know what this was with her. Her door opened, and she just looked at me. It was as if she was seeing right into my soul and I didn’t know how to feel about that.

“You coming in, or did you come all of this way just to stand outside my door?” I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
