Chapter Nine

He got a limo again, wearing an all-black three piece suit with a black silk tie that drove me wild, especially with his careless curls framing his face and kissing the tips of his collar. He looked dark and dangerous, his green eyes piercing, still that ocean paradise color that swept you off your feet with thoughts of ‘Is he really looking at me with those gorgeous eyes?’

I was already a little tired, as Quinn had been extremely enthusiastic last night, nearly banging me to pieces three times. He said he was making up for lost time since I had stayed at my own place the night before, spending some quality time with Ulalume and catching up on my sleep.

I hadn’t seen Quinn all day, which was starting to feel foreign to me; I either saw him in the morning, at lunch, or for dinner and to his place. We spent little time apart except at work. So of course, I had a ridiculous smile on my face when I saw him, sliding in beside him in the limo.

I was a little cold – all I had was a red faux fur wrap Quinn had sent over to me, the slit in the skirt of my dress leaving my skin exposed, though thankfully I didn’t have far to go to get into the warmth of the car.

I adjusted my legs so my ankles were crossed, my legs together, fixing the skirt as he stared at me. I brushed a little curl out of my face, the rest of my hair swept back into an up do, the curls framing my face. My eyes widened a bit.

‘What?’

He shook his head, looking away. ‘Nothing.’

‘Are you sure?’ I asked. I pulled out my silver compact from my little red clutch, which had gold studs all over it. I looked over my red lipstick. ‘Do I look all right?’

He watched me again. ‘Perfect.’

I smiled a little as I glanced out of the corner of my eye. ‘Perfection is unattainable.’

‘Not tonight,’ he said. ‘I hope you’re ready when we get to my place. I think I may top last night.’

I giggled a little. ‘Oh no. I already can’t walk right, I probably look like a monkey in these heels.’

‘I’m sure you’ll manage,’ he said with a little smirk. ‘We get to sleep in tomorrow.’

‘I would suggest breakfast in bed, but I still have yet to see you eat something,’ I said, putting my compact away.

‘Oh, you’ve seen me eat,’ he said, mischief in his eyes.

I looked to him, unimpressed, but still amused. ‘I meant food.’

‘I dislike having meals in front of people,’ he said, sighing as he looked through the window, the snow falling and wet, sticking to the window like rain.

‘So, when do you eat?’ I asked, pursing my lips, feeling the matte lipstick on them. ‘I mean, I know you don’t eat breakfast, and you don’t eat at lunch, and you don’t eat when we have dinner.’

‘I eat in my office,’ he said with a shrug.
