KRISTINA
Kristina led Trigger to the arena and paused to stare. Pete was loping past on Starshine. A man who knew how to ride, and did it well, was a beautiful sight. The way he moved in the saddle and held the reins made her think of how heâd moved with her. How he would move over her. How that gorgeous dick of his would move inside her.
Closing her eyes, she swallowed hard. Thank God, Trigger was the last horse she had to ride. She wasnât sure she could take much more pounding on her pussy without satisfaction. The way she felt, Pete would only have to breathe her way, and sheâd come apart in his arms.
Mounting up, she allowed her thoughts to drift back to the last time sheâd had a boyfriend. It hadnât lasted because, once again, when her stepfather found out about it, heâd made it impossible for her to have any time for herself. Dating was out of the question, as far as he was concerned.
âBesides, who would want you? You barely take care of yourself,â she could hear his voice now. âMen want a woman who puts on makeup now and then and doesnât have love handles. They donât want a woman who smells more like horseshit than perfume.â
Her step brothers werenât much better. The women they dated could pass for super models. They never looked twice at her except to laugh at her. The one time sheâd come downstairs dressed to kill for a New Yearâs Eve party, theyâd all mocked her and made her feel so horrible she hadnât gone. That New Yearâs Eve had been spent choking back tears and picking away on her guitar.
Cassidy kept telling her not to listen to her family.
âThey arenât even your real family,â Kristina could hear Cassidy in her head like a broken record. âThey remind you of that all the freaking time. So why canât you just leave?â
Because this was her motherâs stable. She couldnât just abandon it. Her grandparents had worked hard to build this horse farm, and it had become one of the most prominent horse training stables in the northeast. Cassidy was a top trainer, and Kristina had worked hard to get certified as well. Despite her stepfatherâs quirks, he was also one of the top horse trainers for show horses in the country, which was one of the reasons why her mother had married him. She just hadnât expected to die. Or that he would be such a dick.
The way Kristina was feeling right now, all turned on, hot and bothered, she didnât really care if Pete was lying to her about who he was, or if heâd be around once the snow stopped flying. All she cared about was that he could satisfy the ache she hadnât realized she had. It was obvious he was interested in her, but from what heâd said, he was interested in any woman. Perfect, that was just what she needed.
âItâs settled then,â she thought as she rode the last lap around the arena.
