“Marry me.” The words practically jump out of my mouth.

Shocked blue eyes stare back at me, and for several seconds, neither of us says anything. I keep the smile plastered on my face as I try to hide my anxiety. I can’t believe I just asked Grayson Pierce, sex god and front man for Ruin, to marry me. I need to explain. Before I can say a word, he releases my hand and slaps the table. His lips curl up at the sides and he starts laughing. Like, really hard. My heart sinks.

“Fuck,” he says as he wipes his eyes. “You almost had me there, sweetheart.” I giggle nervously along with him, unsure how to tell him just how deadly serious I really am. Crappity crap crap, this is not going the way I had hoped it would.

He reaches for my hand again, but I pull it back. I can’t think when he’s touching me. I try a different tactic. “Let’s say we do this fake relationship thing.” I purposely avoid labeling it. “We need to iron out the terms first.”

He leans back against the padded seat of the booth. The cocky grin is still spread across his handsome face. “Shoot…you have my undivided attention. What are your terms?” He’s not taking this seriously, but he will be by the time I’m done.

“We commit to six months, and then we are done. We walk away with exactly what we came into this contract with.” Neither of us needs any more money so this part is a no-brainer, but the terms need to be clear.

“Deal, what else.”

“There is no payment from either of us to enter into this arrangement. I don’t need your money and you don’t need mine.”

“Fine with me. Go on.” We pause as our food arrives and wait until the server leaves. Grayson digs right in, but I can’t eat a bite until this is done, so I continue.

“You already mentioned that we need to at least appear to be monogamous, so I think we should agree on that. No other relationships of any kind for six months. Neither one of us needs the scandal of being caught with someone else when we are supposed to be together.”

It’s not a big deal for me, I haven’t been with anyone in months, but I suspect this particular term will be slightly more difficult for Grayson. He does have a reputation, and I have no doubt a very high sex drive to go along with it. He hasn’t tried to hide that fact or his interest in me since we first met. Christ, the man seems to have a twenty-four seven hard-on. I don’t know how he deals with that, aside from the obvious, which is why I need to insist on this particular clause. This may be a fake relationship, but I simply can’t deal with another man fucking someone else while he’s with me.

He sets his fork down, the smirk is still there, but it doesn’t reach his eyes like it did before.
