“Just sit tight!” Miss Griffin called. “The emergency services are on their way. They’ll get you out.”

“OK!” Hailey and Kit called back.

“That’s a relief,” Kit said, pushing his hair off his face.

But at that moment the bus lurched backwards again.

Hailey shrieked in shock and terror. “What the—?”

“We’re sliding over the edge!” Bex yelled.

Hailey stared at her. Once the back wheels were over the edge, there’d be nothing stopping the entire bus from hurtling down the sheer drop below.

“What do we do?” Kit shouted. “There’s no way out!”
