Chapter 20

After chores and supper, Roman and Blair declared they were turning in early. They had taken over the master bedroom, much to Fern’s objection. It seemed a little intrusive to them as well, but they had to sleep somewhere, and their blossoming love demanded privacy.

With the door locked behind them, they stood just inside holding each other for a long time.

“I’m ready,” Blair finally said raising her eyes to meet his, somehow embracing each other with a look.

“Are you sure?” Roman couldn’t help seeming eager. This beautiful woman made him hornier than he had been as a teenager. He had been patient, respecting her grief, but he longed to be with her. He needed it. Sex between them seemed as much a part of their inescapable destiny as battling evil.

Blair responded without words, by peeling off her jeans. He knew she had a fair complexion, but as she pulled her shirt off over her head, the alabaster white skin took his breath away.
