Chapter Eleven
Stevie
The way Aaron was looking at me had me swooning. The past two days-scratch that-24 hours, had been a whirlwind of emotion both between he and I and he and his family. But this look, this look he gave me now, transcended all of that.
“Stevie, this is going to sound crazy, but-”
“You love me,” I said in a small voice.
His eyes widened and he nodded slowly. My cheeks were hurting again so I knew I had a huge smile on my face.
“How did you know I was going to say that,” he said, surprised.
I touched his face, running my fingers along his cheekbones and his eyebrows. “Your eyes. I could see you working something out and you looked how I felt. I love you, too, Aaron Ali Salaam McShane. Now are you going to make love to me?” I raised an eyebrow at him and then I saw it, a lone tear.
“No! Aaron, what is it? I’m sorry!”
He shook his head, laughing. “Don’t be sorry! I don’t know what! I’m just so full of emotion right now.”
I felt myself well up and for the first time in weeks. I felt the weight of my grief lifting. The intensity of my feelings for Aaron caused a new pressure, but it was a good pressure. One that I needed to feel more of at this very moment.
“Ok. Now that we’re clear, will you please climb up here and get back to work?”
He laughed and moved to cover me with his exquisite body. His expression told me he wanted to be sure I was ready for him. I reached down and touched him where he was hovering just above me. He sucked in a breath between his teeth and squeezed his eyes shut. When he opened them, he looked determined.
He started to speak again, but then shook his head. “I can’t make you any promises regarding what we are about to do.”
I laughed out loud and he smiled down at me before kissing me tenderly, our eyes locked on each other’s. When he entered me, I watched the myriad emotions he was going through displayed in his gaze. He was so beautiful like this! His whole body was trembling and as I ran my hand down his back, he broke out in a sheen of sweat and cried out.
It was by far the most intimate and intense physical experience I’d shared with another person. I was worried that having the baby would cause things to feel different, less pleasurable. I worried for no reason. If anything, I was more sensitive than ever and it was almost too much.
We clung together, my legs wrapped around his hips, holding him as close as possible. He watched me the whole time. I wanted him to see and feel how wonderful this was. He started to shake even more and I could feel him straining against me. He moaned, “Stevie, I’m-”
“Let go, baby. Let it go,” I murmured to him. I could feel he was trying to hold back, but he needed this release more than I did.
