Christina and Logan waited outside of the courtroom. The bailiff wasn’t going to bring her father in until it was his time. Due to the chaotic press situation, the judge ordered that the courtroom be closed off to the public.

People yelled profanity at Christina as she walked by. Christina tried to hold herself together in front of everyone, but failed. She ran off to the bathroom. Logan stood outside the door waiting for her. When she came back out, they were escorted into a private room where they could wait in peace, and stay out of the way of the press.

Logan handed her a tissue that he had in his suit pocket. She accepted it. “This is harder than I thought. I can’t do it. Why is this happening to us? He was always a good man, maybe not available to me as much as I liked, but he was always so honest.”

He took her arm and sat her down. “Just sit and sip some water. It’ll be over soon enough.”

An hour later, they were escorted into the courtroom where they took their seats. The Judge made his ruling that the press would not be allowed inside for the arraignment, so they swarmed the doorways, hoping to get a first glimpse of the happenings.

Daniel was escorted into the room in handcuffs. Christina cringed at the sight of her father in cuffs. “Is that really necessary? He’s not a murderer. He’s never even had a speeding ticket.”

Logan gently touched her thigh, “It’s just procedure, and they’re just doing what they’re supposed to.”

She looked down at his hand, and he quickly pulled it away.

The judge arrived, and they all stood. He read over the paperwork, while they sat, waiting impatiently.

“These are some serious allegations Mr. Giordano. How do you plea?”

Robert stood up and spoke, “Your honor, my client pleads not guilty.”

The judge again paused, reading over the paperwork a second time. “Due to the seriousness of the charges there will be no bail set in this case.”

Robert spoke again, “Your honor, my client has never so much as had a speeding ticket. As you can see, he has a daughter that lives with him. He’s not a flight risk. He has some private matters that will need to be tended to so we’re in the hopes of you being gracious your honor, and allow my client some time to tend to his personal matters.”

The judge thought it over. “I’ll recess for ten minutes. I’d like to see both attorney’s in my chambers, please.”

Everyone stood and Daniel was escorted out of the room again. Christina stood there, confused. “Is this a good thing?”

Logan shrugged his shoulders. “I’m not sure. Just sit tight, it’s almost over.”

Ten minutes later, the judge returned. “After speaking with both attorneys, and taking into consideration the fact that Mr. Giordano has been an upstanding citizen. I’ll allow a two week grace period. Monitored of course, I would like to give you more time than that, but there are a large number of people affected by what Mr.
