BOWIE

The next morning, my boy and pup were very quiet as they ate breakfast. Saint was on his knees in front of a bowl of food near my feet, gaze nervously jumping between me and Ridge. He was having the same breakfast as us—cereal and milk—and I’d been kind enough to give him a spoon.

Ridge was still half asleep, hair a mess, and he swayed slightly with what I assumed was the hangover to end all hangovers. He groaned and palmed his face, dropping his forehead against the stainless steel kitchen island. We had a dining room with a large table, but we rarely used it for anything other than formal get-togethers. The island was our normal eating spot.

“It hurts,” he grumbled.

I hummed, then took a sip of my cappuccino, savoring the melted chocolate drizzled across the top. I’d given the kitchen staff the day off, citing a need for privacy. Usually they would’ve created a massive breakfast of fresh fruits, bacon, eggs, and toast, but today this was good enough. “I believe what you’re experiencing is called karma.”

Ridge shot a glare at me, and satisfaction settled in my chest. I’d always enjoyed dishing out punishment, and there had been times when I’d considered the Dom lifestyle. My work kept me too busy to invest time into clubs, and now it turned out I didn’t need to go searching because I’d found two subs. Well, one. Ridge teetered between Dom and sub, not quite fitting into a role, and that was fine.

Ridge shoved a spoonful of cereal into his mouth and sighed, nose crumpling in distaste. “This is garbage.”

“Maybe you should learn how to make your own breakfast then.” I smirked behind my mug as I took another sip and glanced down at the tablet in front of me. I scrolled through the local news. Even though I’d chosen to take the day off and spend it with Ridge and Saint—something they didn’t know yet—I always had my work brain switched on. I liked to keep up to date. Omri had agreed to call me if anything went awry, and he kept everyone on their toes. It was always amusing for him when he filled in for me. The staff underestimated him due to his larger-than-life fashion sense, which was pure stupidity.

Ridge didn’t acknowledge my comment, shoveling more cereal into his mouth. He grunted but didn’t say anything else.

We ate in silence, and Saint dutifully devoured his food without complaint. At least one of them knew how to obey orders.

When Ridge was done, he shoved the empty bowl away. “Are you going to take Saint to work again today?”

“No, the three of us are going to pay the Harlots a visit.” I finished off the last bit of my cappuccino and set the mug on the island. With a sigh, I closed the news on my tablet and focused fully on him. “We have checks to take to them.”

Saint immediately straightened, shifting uncomfortably on his knees. His dark eyebrows dropped in concern and he reached up to tug at the collar, clearly eager to talk.
