Chapter 23
Friday morning starts with Sebastian inside of me. He brings me to orgasm countless times before we shower together. We’re now sitting at my breakfast bar, having toast while I check emails and he reads the paper from his tablet.
“What?” I ask, catching him staring at me through the corner of my eye as I nibble the last bite of my breakfast.
“I didn’t say a word Miss Stevens,” he replies.
I wipe my mouth with my napkin. “You didn’t have to, Mr. Black. Your expression says it all.”
“Oh really, and what does my expression say?”
“That you wish you had more time before work so that you could take me back to bed.
“I could save time if I forgo the bed and just take you here,” he offers, smiling.
My sex jolts in response. “As tempting as that sounds, you need to go because I have a lot to get done before Monday.”
“Does that mean you won’t come home with me tonight?” He asks.
“I can come by Windom. I’ll just have to bring my tablet with me. What time?”
“I will pick you up at 6:00,” he says.

Three hours later, I’m sitting on the couch with my tablet, laptop, and phone surrounding me. Paul has called no less than ten times, as we prepare our final notes for Monday’s meeting. I’m just finishing yet another draft of my agenda when the door opens and Geoff comes tumbling in. He looks terrible. His face is gray and puffy, dark circles are under his eyes, and his hair is semi-matted. He is wearing the same clothes he left in last night, although they aren’t as put together now.
“You look like hell,” I say. “Is everything ok?”
“Huh? Oh, Dani. I didn’t see you there.”
“You don’t look good, sweetie, what’s wrong?” I ask.
“Nothing, I just had a long night. You know how it goes.” He heads to the kitchen and fires up the coffee maker.
Following him, I say, “Geoff, you have to talk to me. I know something’s up. I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what it is.”
“Who said I wanted any help? Why are you here anyway? I thought you’d be off somewhere fucking Mr. Big,” he retorts, grabbing his mug and storming out.
I stand, frozen in place, starring after him. Geoff has never snapped on me like that, and it hurts. Slowly creeping into the living room, I try to focus on my work once again, but it’s hopeless. I consider texting Sebastian, but decide that he’s probably too busy and check Facebook instead.
Nothing holds my attention for longer than 30 seconds, so I decide to just be alone with my thoughts for a while and head to my bedroom. I hear Geoff’s bedroom door open and expect him to come into my room and apologize but he doesn’t. I wait for a sign that he’s in the living room sulking, but I only hear the door slamming shut. He left and he didn’t even say goodbye. My fear takes over and tears fall freely down my cheeks.
