What is the relative humidity of the air in your experiment?

In a rain forest, the relative humidity is usually very close to 100 percent. When it is raining, the relative humidity is 100 percent. A rain forest is a very hot and humid place.

Design and carry out an experiment to show why you should use a shiny metal rather than a plastic or glass container to find dew points.

You will often find dew on grass and flowers after a cool, clear night. Why is dew less likely if clouds cover the sky?

Using the same apparatus, table, and graph, determine the dew point and humidity (absolute and relative) on clear, cloudy, and rainy days, and at different times of the year. Record your findings. During which season is the absolute humidity highest? Lowest? When is the relative humidity highest? Lowest? During which season is the air driest inside your home or school? Under what conditions are you unable to determine the dew point?

Fill the metal can you used about one-third of the way with crushed ice. Add an equal volume of table salt and stir to thoroughly mix the salt and ice. Place a thermometer in the salt-ice mixture. Watch the side of the can very carefully. Do you see frost collecting? Do you first see dew that then freezes, or does the frost form without first forming dew?
