Chapter Thirteen

Dexter

It’s official. I’m in love with her. We’re sitting at the table after dinner playing a game of Scrabble.

Breakfast was delicious, and now dinner was great. We cleaned the kitchen together and then she asked me if I liked board games. Next thing I know, we’re across the table from each other, trading stories about our childhood between word plays.

“So while we’re in Vegas, will there be time to use the pool or take in an event?”

I look up from my letters and smile. “Absolutely.”

“Good.” She smiles. “Because I got a swimsuit and I can’t wait to go swimming.”

Dear god, she’s trying to kill me.

Placing my tiles down, I watch her tally up the points, write it down, and then play a word and repeat. While I’m busy with the board, she gets up and goes to the fridge. I’m shifting my tiles around since she took my spot and pause when she sits back down.

“What’s that?” I nod across the table.

She pops open a box and pulls out a plate of chocolate-covered strawberries. “Dessert.”

“You bought dessert?”

“Uh-huh.”

I place my tiles and before anything else is done; she holds a strawberry up to her mouth, wrapping her lips around it.

“I love your lips.”

She bites down and sucks at the juice. “I bet.”

Elena tallies my score, then takes her turn. When I don’t look at the board, my tiles or even move, she gets up and walks around to me. Lifting a strawberry up to my lips, she waits for my mouth to open.

“Baby, you know you want a taste.” Her voice is like honeyed smoke.

“I do.” Opening my mouth, she places the strawberry inside and I take a bite. “Good, but not as good as what I tasted earlier.” Her cheeks pink up and before she can move, I scoot back and pull her down in my lap. “I want you.”

“Giving in already?” She smiles.

“Oh, no.” I lean down and kiss her. “I can handle the heat.”

“So can I.”

“Wanna go make out on the couch and see who cries chicken first?”

“Let’s do it.” She stands up and peels her shirt off, dropping it on the floor as she heads to the couch.

Damn, she’s good.

I jump up and follow, taking the strawberries with. Who knows where this night will go?
