who use their intellects

to justiry,

not to eliminate,

their delusion.

The most notable dirrerence

between being "down-to-earth" spiritually,

and being aown-to-eartn in a worldly sense,

is tbat spiritual realism is expansive,

wbereas worldly realism

is usually contractive.

Spiritual realism — tbe willingness, ror example, to race uncompromisingly

the rull truth about oneselr —

sortens the heart and rills it eventually

with kindness toward all.

Worldly realism, on the other hand,

too orten hardens the heart, rilling it with pride and selrishness.
