Hope

I’m sitting here in my red pajama short set along with a big pair of furry red house shoes adorning my feet. My red paisley scarf is tied to the front of my head and I’m looking like Aunt Jemima’s little sister.

I’m in my element and all I want to do is relax for a little bit, to stop from feeling so damned stressed all the time.

I’m just chilling in my living room watching TV on my soft cushiony beige leather sectional. My feet are propped up on my square shaped leather footstool, with a big bowl of popcorn sitting in the middle of my lap.

I’m hyped up and watching the season premiere of the show, Scandal and the whole time I’m thinking that I sure do wish my own husband loved me the way that the character Fitz loves his mistress, Miss Olivia Pope on this show.

But then again, maybe it’s because his stupid ass is seeing a mistress of his own . . . so maybe that’s the one who he really loves as well.

Out of the blue, my phone rings, disturbing my thoughts and my show. Completely agitated, I quickly hit the pause button on the Direct TV dvr box and then hesitantly reach over to grab the cell from the Oakwood coffee table.

The first thing I do is look at the caller id to see who it is. I see that it’s my friend from high school, Charice Brooks. We are still really cool to this day, so it’s always good to hear from her.

Even though we are both married now, we still occasionally take out the time every now and then to hook up for a girl’s day out. Most of the time we’ll do lunch and drinks, or sometimes we’ll go shopping.

We hadn’t gotten out since last month, so it’s about that time again. I go ahead and press the answer button. I’m game to go eat somewhere or maybe go gambling at the casino in Tunica. .

“What it do Boo?” I answer cheerfully, still munching away on my popcorn.

Damn . . . . This shit is good!

“Girl . . . please tell me that you are sitting down. Because you surely need to be, before I put you up on the 411,” she warns me, sounding all frantic.

Whatever happened to hello? Oh Lord! Here she goes. I really don’t need anybody bringing me any bad news today. I’m just now calming down after that little scene at the restaurant with Love’s ass, so I am so not in the mood!

Sitting up on the edge of the couch, I instantly sit down the popcorn bowl and give her my full attention. I don’t exactly know what the hell is going on, but I need to make sure that I don’t miss a beat.

“What Boo? You are making me nervous, Girl. I almost just choked on a popcorn kernel. What’s going on witchu?” I carefully approach the subject, really curious about what the business is.

Lawd .
