The previous chapters show how adding identity enriches the current economics of organizations and education, and here we see how our method enriches the economics of gender. Specifically, gender norms tag tasks as male or female, both in the workplace and in the household. The models show us why it took a social movement and government intervention rather than a competitive marketplace to erode the discrimination against women in the United States.
