I park in the lot to the gym at about 5 a.m., fully prepared to get hammered by my teammates since news of my shopping spree with Liv hit both TMZ and Page Six somewhere around 7 p.m. last night. By that time, I had made it back from Manhattan and already started my shift at The End Zone. Surprisingly, none of my teammates showed up to give me hell. Neither did Damon, which didn’t sit right. I expected at least a phone call, or a text. When he didn’t reach out, I called him and got voicemail, and that means one thing: I’m in deep shit.

For better or worse, it was a slow night, which allowed me time to stare at my screen searching for a text or missed call from my best friend. Neither occurred and my anxiety reached a fever pitch until Liv began texting me. We talked about the radio silence on the phone as I was closing up and by the time I got to my place, she was waiting for me with a warm smile and a soul-fusing kiss, and the rest of the world melted away.

Until this morning, when I awakened to realize I’d been tagged on social media by my little shit of a brother in the middle of the night. There, he posted his arrival with Courtney, my ex-girlfriend. They’ve arrived upstate. He also tagged Liv, which is complete bullshit. He’s trying to make Liv question what we have, which is easy to do since even I don’t know what we have yet. Regardless, though, I don’t want Hunter sabotaging what we have. It’s mine…mine and Liv’s.

With both of us bombarded with notifications from our feeds, and text jokes from all of my teammates except Damon, Liv and I talked through it. While I’m worried about Damon, Liv’s worried that I’ll go back to the one who got away. The same woman who sent me a nude pic last night.

Did I confess to Liv? Of course. It felt wrong not to. But I also texted Courtney and told her never to send me any texts again, let alone pictures. So, Hunter and Courtney both are trying to sabotage my new relationship. What a shit-show, complete with Liv and me stuck in the middle, still trying to figure out where we fit and how we fit together.

Fortunately, Liv’s taken it as a challenge to do a hard sell on our fake relationship. Ignore it all, she instructed me. Workout, pack, and we’ll leave mid-morning for our road trip. She has an early Zoom with her employees, then one last fitting this morning with Serena. After that, the open road awaits.

Ignoring all calls and texts—roughly about 110, based upon my last count before I turned off my notifications—was easy. Now that I’m not with Liv, not looking at any of the remarks is harder than I could ever imagine. With my sports drink of choice in hand, I march into the gym
